Vadivel Iyyar – Sivananda Iyyar, the son of Cellaiya – Vadivel Iyyar, was born on 8th Tai in 1938 in the village of Thondaimanaru Selvachannidhi. He was a devotee of the shrine. He passed away on 28th Japashi in 1988 in the temple soil. He had a total of 11 children. They were Selvachandran Iyyar, Selvaranee, Selvamala, Selvarasan; Iyyar, Selvamani Iyyar, Selvakumaar Iyyar, Selvakumaari, Selvaroja, Selvamala, Selvalingam Iyyar and Selvaganesh Iyyar. The 7th daughter of these, Sivananda Iyyar – Selvakumaari, married Balasubramaniam – Balendran on 18th Karthigai in 1993 and gave birth to six children. Their children, Nidarsani, Pranavan, Lavanya, Nandaroopan, Nirojini and Parasuraman, started the ‘Sri Selvachannidhi Murugan Math’ in 2018 in memory of Sivananda Iyyar to highlight his charitable works. It is owned and run by Balendran – Selvakumari.
